KVM
KVM stands for Keyboard, Video and Mouse. With our professional KVM solutions, you can control multiple screens, PCs and servers with a single keyboard, monitor and mouse. You can switch between PCs and servers without any noticeable delay. Switching between screens and video sources is so fast that it is invisible to the human eye. Professional KVM solutions were traditionally used in data centres and server rooms. Nowadays we see KVM solutions in environments, such as control rooms, where multiple video sources come together and where fast trouble-free switching between sources is a requirement. KVM solutions in an industrial environment are used for remote control of a machine. This for safety reasons and for optimisation of the production process.

Why choose professional KVM solutions?
An employee in, say, a control room operates several computer systems. Normally each system is operated separately with a mouse, keyboard and screen. Company-critical systems are kept at another secure location in the building or at a remote site for security reasons. KVM provides the solution to this problem, allowing secure and remote control of multiple computer systems.
Benefits of a professional KVM solution:
Benefits of a professional KVM solution:
- Efficient workflow; operators and user stations have access to multiple systems from one location.
- Scalable; connect two or infinite more sources to work stations. The KVM solution adjusts to customer wishes by changing the system configuration.
- Flexible; multiple users can connect to the system needed for operating or monitoring.
- ROI; the use of existing fiber optic and copper network infrastructure is tailored to the needs of the users. The same infrastructure can be used when systems and functions change.
- Ergonomic; users can use just one keyboard or mouse to access the different systems.
- All connected systems are available on the same platform.
- Redundancy on several levels; network / link, power and management redundancy.
- Safe; every user or group can get his own rights and restrictions.
- Computer systems can be placed at a remote location.
Different KVM solutions
A KVM solution uses cabling within a data network infrastructure. Depending on the application and situation, either a dedicated KVM infrastructure is used or the existing IT network is utilized. Connecting a dedicated network to an IP-based network is achieved using special modules. Remote access modules and software enable access from outside the dedicated network.
KVM over a dedicated network structure:
KVM over a dedicated network infrastructure (glass or copper) is the traditional way of setting up a KVM infrastructure. This system consists of KVM extenders with an encoder for your computer system and a decoder for your workstation. KVM matrix switches distribute multiple systems across multiple workstations.
Advantages of a dedicated KVM infrastructure are:
Advantages of a dedicated KVM infrastructure are:
- A secure connection
- Extension lengths are longer than over IP
- Many redundancy options
- Supports almost all formats of video usb and communication protocols
- Seamless linking of virtual sessions
KVM over IP in an existing infrastructure:
KVM over IP uses an existing TCP/IP network. Through this network, the KVM extenders or KVM matrix switches can be accessed. The use of KVM over IP does impose requirements on the quality of the network cabling and the network switches used. Intronics supplies special network switches designed for use in AV and KVM environments.
Advantages of KVM over IP:
Advantages of KVM over IP:
- No need to built a new dedicated network
- Make each KVM switch remotely accessible
- Facilitated remote access
Remote KVM:
Remote means that KVM switching is possible from anywhere in the world. Remotely, you make a secure connection to your critical computer hardware on your PC or other device.
Advantages of Remote KVM:
Advantages of Remote KVM:
- Access to the computer from anywhere in the world
- Make each KVM switch remotely accessible
- User access management for multiple profiles
- High performance video
