What is Digital Signage?
Digital Signage, also known as narrowcasting, is literally a digital signboard. This is simply the evolution from a hand-painted billboard to a digitally controlled screen.
With digital signage you offer entertainment, information, alerts and advertisements to a desired target group at a specific time. By combining images, text and other visual elements, digital signage offers a powerful medium that can reach your audience in the most convincing way.

Digital Signage over IP
"IP" stands for "Internet Protocol", a network protocol specifically designed to allow computers on a network to communicate with each other, such as on the internet.
The combination of Digital Signage and IP results in a flexible communication solution that can be used worldwide.

Why Digital Signage over IP?
One of the biggest benefits of an IP-based solution is the ability to work anywhere in the world. In addition to being centrally managed, the receivers can also be located anywhere. An IP-based solution has the advantage that it is scalable; the product can be implemented wherever a network connection is present.
What do you need for Digital Signage over IP?
A network is required for Digital Signage over IP. This can be a LAN (Local Area Network), but also WAN (Wide Area Network) connections such as the internet.
Since a unicast connection is used, there are no special network requirements. If it concerns a WAN connection, it is necessary that the correct protocols and ports are allowed. The solution that Intronics offers uses, for example, SFTP (Secure File Transfer Protocol) for sending the content from server to receiver.
Intronics provides Artiosign, the Digital Signage over IP platform from Exterity. The system uses a server and an unlimited number of receivers. As a server platform, Exterity offers the AvediaServer in various configurations, from hardware to virtual and from simple to a version with extensive IPTV support.
Every hardware version and license of AvediaServer supports ArtioSign. The receivers are durable and compact, with no moving parts such as fans and hard drives. They can be powered via PoE (Power over Ethernet) and are easy to install and configure.

How does Digital Signage over IP work?
In the case of Artiosign, you create a design via the drag-and-drop interface in the web browser. No additional software needs to be installed, this makes the platform accessible worldwide to anyone with the correct access rights. Once the design is made, it can be rolled out to the connected receivers. You can also choose to provide each receiver with its own content. Alternatively, you can also have the content run through a schedule, so you can prepare the content and show it at a different time.
A practical example is a sports stadium for which the designer creates content on a weekday that will be shown during an event at the weekend.
