“The audio visual technique in an auditorium usually contains a large number of possibilities which can make the operating technology very complex. The operating technology should be simple, to enable all teachers to work with it, also because distance learning is on the rise.

To achieve this, we were looking for a solution to place all AV devices in a rack remotely, with the quality of the AV signals continuing to meet the high requirements. This with the possibility of expanding in the future and by using a (touch) panel to simplify the operation.” hence Kristof.

At the ISE in 2020, Kristof got to the Atlona stand via Intronics. “I soon discovered that AV over IP solutions from Atlona offer multiple advantages over other brands. My choice fell on Atlona OmniStream and Atlona Velocity System. Atlona OmniStream (an AV over IP solution) delivers the performance and reliability of traditional AV-distribution and adds unlimited scalability and cost-efficiency, thanks to the integration in existing data networks. Atlona Velocity is an innovative IP-based AV control platform. With the Velocity system AV systems can be configured and adapted in just a few minutes without the need of complicated programming knowledge.” explains Kristof.

“Before we officially chose Atlona, a proof of concept was performed by Intronics. In cooperation with Atlona the UCLL case was examined to determine whether all requirments from Kristof and his team could be met.” adds Jonas Peeters, Technical Support Engineer at Intronics.

“We have been working with Atlona for quite some time now and the experiences are so good that we want to apply it to other campuses as well. With the Atlona solutions it is easy to expand. The systems are affordable and flexible. Additional cabling is not necessary, any network can be used to add inputs or outputs. Due to the fact that AV over IP runs through the network, there are no distance limits and extra costs.

Next to the OmniStream and Velocity we also use PTZ camera of Atlona, ideal for lecture capturing and distance learning. This camera features an HDBase T output for extending video, power and camera control over a distance up to 330 feet. The main advantage of Atlona is usability. All devices are being managed through a centralized system.” concludes Kristof.
